Brokenness is a blessing! God breaks us so we can be transformed for His Glory. He breaks us so that we will come closer to Him and know His power and character in depth. He allow us to go through some circumstances for us to see who we are before Him and meeting Him personally. He breaks us so we know that apart from Him we can do nothing! He is not the last option but (us) people often put Him as our endmost. The more we are broken, the more we should see ourselves before God, and seek Him, ask, discuss things with Him. Through brokenness, we may see our ugliest character inside before God (to be honest) but most people don’t accept it perhaps of the pride and pain. However, through brokenness that’s where also God put His compassion in us and so we can give it back to others.
God allow us to be broken to live on His divine power. He breaks us to see the beauty of the Cross that Jesus Christ took for us, and we are the partakers. ” But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. ” 1 Peter 4:13,KJV. As one of the Pastor’s preaching, the blessing is in the breaking and it is the sign that God is on your case. And I strongly agree, when we are broken that’s where the time we ask ourselves countless questions towards life; our purpose in life, why we’ve been through this circumstances, what did I do wrong, etc. If we have a sensitive conviction, we should choose what the Lord is telling us, but most of the time that’s not what we want to hear. As a person in flesh, we have different justification to safeguard our feelings and pride.
Broken road is a proven testimony in my life. If I can rewind my past, I should have taken different decision but it is what it is because of my past, I met God personally. I knew Him since childhood but unknowingly I didn’t meet Him yet personally. I grew up in a Christian family, knowing the bible stories since childhood but building up knowledge isn’t enough as growing up when you meet Jesus Christ intimately. My father was a very strict disciplinarian, I think I would say a legalistic kind of person (as I adapt it) until God begin to put into things of telling me what is His Grace all about, compassion, unconditional love, forgiveness and His character. I was so hard towards myself too, if I made a mistake it is so difficult for me to forgive myself, and I think up to now, sometimes it stirs me up from time to time. But God reminded me of His outrageous grace, the purpose of the Cross, His love.
After conquering the struggle through God’s grace and power, we could have the inner strenght that comes alone from Him that we, later on, see. Broken road is a route to enter the level of our faith in Him in every fragment of our character and behaviour. It is the road to liberate our self-load imprisonment to freedom. It is the road to exercise significantly of our faith, trust, and knowing God. When we are broken, it is a turning point in our lives to take the opportunity to choose in knowing who God is, if he is real or not, His power. How can we make use of our faith in God without taking steps to reality by our circumstances? “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” James 2:17.
It is very easy to utter all these things when we’re not in the situation because the moment we’re on it, we are clouded by pain, rage, pride and even self-pity. But we have to push ourselves to fight against it by asking God’s help, recognize that we can’t do anything in a situation, and give our whole heart to God who can control everything. Remember this, there is no formula of magic in changing our hearts, renewing mind, and character. It takes time. And so difficult because when God is digging our pothole, it is so painful in a self-serving nature. Yet, continue to seek God’s presence by listening to preaching, reading bible and books, fellowshipping in the church, asking prayers from friends/ family, and pray, pray, pray.
Keep seeking God! Be of good courage!(Deuteronomy 31:6 ). Never allow yourself eaten up by self-pity, pride and pain! Fight for the good fight! (1 Timothy 6:12). Don’t bother what people may think about your reputation but rather always think your character before God. It is between you and Him! Accept our shortcomings as a human. Listen to your convictions, if it does hurt you it means there is something on it that needs to be fixed by Jesus Christ, just let Him be. Jesus died for you and me that equates His unconditional love for me and you!❤️
